Justin is of mixed parentage including Islander (boigu, Badu and Horn Islands), Aboriginal and European. He grew up on Horn Island and in Cairns. In Justin's brief career he has exhibited locally in North Queensland as well as internationally and is regarded as an upcoming Islander artist to watch. Justin's works are rich in symbolism and local legend; his prints depict an extraordinary variety of sea creatures and maritime heroes. Crocodiles, dugongs, hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, skates, crabs, ctopi and many spcies of fish are depicted swimming in ornate fields of decorative patterns that are specific to various families and regions. These creations stories are the heart and soul of Torres Strait Islander culture.
