The purpose for Faebella underpins every facet of its brand and subsequently, its designs. . Faebella was created to be a physical embodiment of all of the beauty of indigenous australian culture. This is why values integral to indigenous australian culture underpin Faebella's values such as a love for the land and capatilising on eco-friendly production opportunities.
Faebella’s design process involves several key players that are a natural result of the brand values.
FIRSTLY, an artwork is selected. This is done using a couple of different methods:
Selecting the artwork is based on three main critical factors:
The artwork’s meaning is important because Faebella wishes to share stories from indigenous artists that are about life, culture, history & messages, specifically stories that people from all over the world can connect to.
This is why whenever someone receives a Faebella product, they will always receive a photo of the original artwork used in the design and the story behind the artwork. This is done in order to achieve Faebella's core purpose as a brand; to show the world the beauty that Indigenous Australian culture has to offer.
The colour scheme of the artwork is another key factor to consider as Faebella likes to keep the colours in the designs as close to its original colours as selected by the artists. Faebella likes to create designs that are eye-catching and exciting, so as to inspire people to feel passionate about health & fitness.
The elements of the artwork refer to the images in the artwork and whether they can be manipulated and seperated. This factor is important for the design process. A faebella design is not just about taking an artwork and placing it on clothing. We involve professionals who create an original design with the artwork elements.
SECONDLY, we reach out to the artist and find out their story as an artist and preferences for how we work with their art.
This involves keeping in good communication with the artist and building trust with them to hear about their story as an indigenous artist. It is incredibly rewarding to listen to their background and why they are a creator of art.
Artists are incredibly important in the Indigenous Australian community because they are our storytellers and fulfill an essential role - by sharing their artwork, they are playing an important part in the preservation and celebration of Indigenous Australian culture.
THIRDLY, the artwork and its origin story are handed over digitally to our designers who create up to 30 different designs based off one artwork. Our designers make their creations trying to produce a blend of a unique piece by manipulating the elements of an artwork whilst still maintaining the integrity of the piece to honour the artist's eye.
Then our designers render the design in a format our supplier can work with. This is done by turning the designs into graphics using programs such as Adobe Illustrator. It is this part of the process that may involve colour changes, re-sizing, cropping etc. This is often because of requirements our supplier may have.
Our supplier brings the designs to life using a process called sublimation. Sublimation involves the process of printing onto a special sheet of paper, and then transferring that image onto fabric. The ink is heated until it disintegrates into the corresponding fabric. This makes the ink long-lasting which is important so that Faebella designs are vibrant and beautiful for as long as possible.
And that is how Faebella designs are created!
Every artwork Faebella works with forms a collection with several designs belonging to the same collection. To view our designs, head on over to our collections!
Every Faebella design is designed with art, designed with culture and designed with story.
