Dance cardio? What is it? How do you do it? Should you be doing it? I've given dance cardio a go and I found myself loving it so much, I can recommend it. Dance cardio is something you may use to break up the motony of your routine or it may become your core fitness activity. Below I've detailed WHY you should be doing dance cardio. So just dance...cardio...
REASON NUMBER ONE
It works! It works really well! Dance Cardio not only burns a lot of fat but tones your muscles as well. This is because the structure of dance cardio has you getting your heart rate up for an extended period of time as there are little breaks. Additionally, dance cardio is a whole body aerobic expercise and so involves using different groups of mucles which will have you looking toned ALL over.
REASON NUMBER TWO
Dance cardio will have you improving your coordination and sense of rhythm. Ever heard of a little thing called 'dancer's grace'? Since dance cardio involves making a lot of flowy movements. you may find that you are better able to use parts of your body in ways you haven't before and even everday things like walking may feel and look different for you.
REASON NUMBER THREE
Dance cardio is fun! And it is different to a lot of aerobic exercises so in the instance where you're finding yourself feeling bored with your routine, it could be the perfect thing to add to the mix to keep you going. Dance cardio has a number of mental benefits as well as physical such as the positive impact on your mood and the boost that it gives your brain. In fact, dance cardio is even being used to treat patients with Parkinson's disease!
OUR TIPS TO GET STARTED
1. Since starting a new activity can be daunting, you can always work on learning the ropes from home first in order to build your confidence for it. There are so many dance cardio videos on youtube that you can follow that cost you absolutely nothing. Take a look online and find one that you can easily follow along.
2. Rope in a friend. Since dance cardio is a fun activity, it shouldn't be too hard to convince a friend to join you. This may mean just inviting them over to your house and following along with a video. Or hitting a dance cardio class such as zumba.
3. Incorporate it into your fitness routine. Train your body and mind to make it a habit by scheduling dance cardio at the same time whether that be every Thursday or once every two days at 2:00PM. To really gain the benefits from dance cardio, it needs to be a regular practice for you.
